One of the thrills in traveling to see animals in the wild is the timing. So often polar bears are portrayed against ice and snow. The first time I got to spend with wild polar bears was in the summer from a remote Manitoba camp. The ice had just left Hudson Bay and the bears were eying their summer meals..... beluga whales.
