The last day of January on his way to work , my husband called me to let me know a deer carcass was near the road and he spotted eagles nearby. After grabbing my camera and leaping into the car, I drove the 5 minutes to the spot he indicated. Not only were there eagles around, but a pair of mature birds had landed on the carcass and were joined by magpies. For 40 minutes, I watched eagles and magpies come and go (including a couple immature eagles) and was the only one to watch their Winter Banquet.
